Search, loan and order

Search

BIBSYS offers different search tools for different purposes. Some of these search tools target specific search sources, whereas others allow you to search several databases simultaneously using only one search interface. BIBSYS Ask and BIBSYS Mime have been designed for this use.

BIBSYS Asksearch in The Library Database, ForskPub, ForskPro and BIBSYS Emneportal

BIBSYS Brage - search in institutional archives

BIBSYS Emneportal - search in quality-controlled internet sites

BIBSYS Galleri - search in picture collections

BIBSYS Mime - search in several databases

BIBSYS Tyrsearch in journals

Loan and order

If you are a patron of a BIBSYS library (a library that uses the BIBSYS Library System) you may submit a copy order for an article or a loan order for a book or other material via the Internet. Orders of copies and loan are available from both BIBSYS Ask and BIBSYS Mime. You may use “My page” to renew your loan and to view what you have borrowed, ordered, or placed a loan reservation for in one or more of the BIBSYS libraries.

Personal borrower

A personal borrower has a patronID consisting of 10 characters, e.g. abc1234567. Your library and not BIBSYS assigns you the patron ID. If you are not logged on when you submit your order, you have to enter your PatronID after you have searched and found what you were looking for.

The orders will be sent to the library where you are a registered patron, regardless of which library owns the document. Even if your order has been registered, it may not necessarily be implemented, as the process will depend on the rules and regulations at your library. Please contact your library if you have any questions about orders, loans, reservations or other library services:

Library as borrower

All libraries, whether from Norway or abroad, require a National library number and authorization code to submit a copy or loan order to the BIBSYS libraries. The number and code are assigned by The National Library of Norway, not by BIBSYS. When you log in, the National library number will function as your user name, and the authorization code will function as a password.

Please use the contact link below to be assigned a National library number and an authorization code from The National Library of Norway, or to report change of name, address etc. of your library:
