GLOBAL-IDENTIFIER-ZONE
Within the GLOBAL-IDENTIFIER-ZONE the standard defines four namespaces (GLOBAL-NAMESPACE). They are supported by BIBSYSx in the following way:
| Namespace | Description |
|---|---|
| doi | BIBSYSx will access the document with this identifier. (doi = Digital Object Identifier) |
| pmid | BIBSYSx will access the PubMed database and retrieve metadata from this database. (pmid = PubMed identifier) |
| bibcode | No support. If only this attribute has been provided, BIBSYSx will be unable to identify the object. |
| oai | No support. If only this attribute has been provided, BIBSYSx will be unable to identify the object. |
LOCAL-IDENTIFIER-ZONE
According to the standard, this attribute may only be used when ORIGIN-DESCRIPTION is provided. However, we have also made it possible to use BIBSYSx as part of BIBSYS’ own services. Data entered into this attribute will be interpreted as a BIBSYS object id, if you add the prefix "BIBSYS:". For the time being, this will occur irrespective of the values in ORIGIN-DESCRIPTION.
